Young Musician Awards

The MMC Young Musician Awards are a project of the Monday Musical Club of Albany, formed in 1904 with

the objective to encourage a broader culture in music and the performing arts among its members and in the

community at large. Our goal for this award is to support the love and appreciation of music by young people.

Qualifications:

1. High School Junior (grade 11 or equivalent if home schooled), vocalist or instrumentalist

2. Be participating in musical performance at school or elsewhere (orchestra, band, chorus, etc) and be

receiving musical instruction/lessons from a music teacher in school or privately

Application:

1. Complete the information on the application form.

2. Obtain recommendation of your current music teacher/instructor.

3. Prepare a recording of your performance of two challenging musical pieces – one from the classical

genre and the other from any musical genre.

4. Send the completed application form, recommendation and CD or Tape of your recording to be received

by March 25, 2016 to: Margaret Harwood, MMC Young Musician Awards, 319 16th Street, Watervliet,

NY 12189.

Selection:

1. Judges from the Club will listen to the recordings. If necessary, MMC reserves the right to audition

finalists prior to final selection of the recipient.

2. One award recipient will be chosen.

3. Notification of the results of the competition will be made by mid-April.

Award:

The winner will each receive:

1. A check for $150

2. An opportunity to perform as part of the Monday Musical Club’s Artist Member Concert on May 15,

2016 at 3pm at the All Saints Catholic Church in Albany, NY

In addition, winners will be listed in the 2016-2017 Club Directory in recognition of their achievement.
